Destination Gotland
Every day thousands of passengers book their journey to Gotland online. These high volumes are secured through a reliable and user-friendly booking portal developed by us.
The most common route to Gotland is via the ports in Oskarshamn and Nynäshamn. This ferry traffic is operated by Destination Gotland on behalf of the Swedish state. Approximately 80% of visitors to Gotland choose this route.
As many as 75% of these passengers book their journey online. The booking options at destinationgotland.se are therefore extremely important for tourism across the entire island.
Softronic has been working with Destination Gotland for many years to develop the company’s digital presence. The focus of this collaboration has been on the strategy, design, development and management of Destination Gotland’s booking solutions for the web and mobile devices.
Softronic has really embraced our business. They understand what is important for us, which makes it really easy to work with them on a day-to-day basis.

Modern design supported by robust technology
In 2015 a new booking portal, destinationgotland.se, was launched, with Softronic responsible for the graphic design and development.
It was launched to market Gotland as a destination, and to enable people to book ferry tickets, hotel rooms, package trips and experiences.
The user experience was designed based on the needs of the various target groups of Destination Gotland. The result is a modern booking portal that offers information, services and inspiration for the islanders and the tourists.
Softronic’s technical expertise in e-commerce solutions was crucial to the development work. The new booking platform enables thousands of bookings to be made every day on the web and on mobile devices.
One of the project goals was also to make internal management easier.
With Episerver as the CMS, it is easy for Destination Gotland employees to update the booking portal with relevant content.
